Introducing the Impact XPU 2.0 Full Black Skateboard Deck
The first official release of our newest XPU 2.0 construction. Full Black is a limited series of the first 100 decks built with our latest composite layup – lighter, thinner, more refined, and tuned for a more natural maple-like feel.
Impact XPU was created with one goal in mind: to build one of the highest-performing skateboard decks in the world. Not through empty hype, but through real testing, rider feedback, and constant refinement. Every version teaches us something. Every batch gets us closer.
The Full Black edition marks a new chapter. It keeps the core DNA of Impact – durability, pop retention, polyurethane sidewalls, FlowSlick slides, and serious resistance to abuse – but introduces the next step in our construction: XPU 2.0.
Impact XPU 2.0 – lighter, thinner, more natural under your feet
XPU 2.0 is a refined version of our composite skateboard deck construction. Compared to XPU 1.6, the new construction is lighter, thinner, and slightly less stiff, giving it a flex pattern closer to a classic maple deck – while keeping the strength and durability Impact is known for.
- New XPU 2.0 construction: the first official production batch using our latest composite layup.
- Limited Full Black edition: only the first 100 decks from this construction.
- Lighter build: XPU 2.0 weighs approx. 1.22 kg, compared to 1.26 kg in XPU 1.6. (8″ deck)
- Thinner profile: approx. 9.34–9.5 mm deck thickness.
- More natural flex: tuned to feel closer to a traditional maple board.
- Updated composite fiber layout: redesigned to increase break resistance in critical zones – especially right behind the trucks.
What sets the Impact XPU deck apart?
Impact XPU is not just another reinforced skateboard deck. It is a multi-material performance construction built with a vertically laminated wood core, carbon fiber, glass fiber, polyurethane sidewalls, and FlowSlick bottom layer. Each element has a job. Together, they create a deck that is strong, responsive, resistant to edge damage, and made to last much longer than a standard maple board.
Unrivaled durability
Skateboarding is brutal on equipment. Big drops, heavy landings, curbs, ledges, rain, rough ground – a maple decks give up quite fast under intensive use. Impact XPU is built to take more abuse, hold its shape longer, and reduce the typical problems of classic wooden decks: snapping, chipping, razor tail, and water damage.
XPU 2.0 goes even further by changing the internal fiber layout to reinforce the most critical break zones, especially the area just behind the trucks – one of the places where decks often fail under heavy impact and repeated hard landings.
Optimised weight-to-strength ratio
The Full Black XPU 2.0 construction is lighter than the previous XPU 1.6 version. An 8.0″ XPU 2.0 deck weighs approx. 1.22 kg, compared to approx. 1.26 kg in XPU 1.6.
That weight reduction comes together with a thinner core and a more refined composite layup. The goal was not to make the deck weaker or overly soft – the goal was to make it feel more natural, more responsive, and closer to the familiar feel of a classic maple board, while keeping the long-lasting performance.
maple-like flex
Earlier XPU versions were known for their stiffness and durability. With XPU 2.0, we refined the flex to make the deck feel more natural under your feet. It is still an Impact deck – strong, stable, and confidence-inspiring – but now with a slightly softer response and a boardfeel closer to traditional 7-ply maple.
For skaters, this means better comfort, more familiar feedback, and a deck that feels easier to connect with from the first session.
Reinforced critical break zones
One of the key updates in XPU 2.0 is the new composite fiber layout. We changed the orientation and distribution of selected fibers and added extra reinforcement where it matters most.
The main goal: better resistance to breakage in high-stress zones, especially right behind the trucks. This area takes massive compression, bending, and impact loads during hard landings, tail-heavy tricks, and repeated street skating. XPU 2.0 is designed to handle those forces more effectively.
Razor-tail and abrasion resistance
Impact XPU decks use our in-house polyurethane sidewall system instead of exposed wooden edges. In laboratory testing, the PU edge showed up to 13× higher resistance to razor-tail abrasion compared to a classic 7-ply maple deck.
Real-life skating is always more complex than a lab test – different ground surfaces, heat, pressure, trick selection, and riding style all matter. From our experience, real-world razor-tail resistance is usually around 2–3× higher than on a traditional maple deck. But the benefit is clear: XPU edges stay cleaner for longer, wear down slower, and are far less likely to chip or splinter like traditional maple.
Chips and waterproof protection
Classic maple decks have exposed wooden edges that can chip, absorb water, swell, and delaminate. Impact XPU is built differently. The polyurethane sidewalls seal and protect the core, while the FlowSlick bottom layer adds an extra barrier against moisture and abrasion.
Rain, puddles, wet streets, rough curbs – the Impact XPU is made to stay solid in conditions that would quickly damage a regular wooden deck.
Impact Shield performance
Impact XPU is designed for hard skating. The composite structure helps absorb and distribute shock across the deck instead of letting stress concentrate in one weak point. The updated XPU 2.0 layup improves that idea even further by strengthening the areas that usually suffer the most.
No skateboard deck is unbreakable – and heavy skating will always create extreme forces – but XPU 2.0 is built to give you more confidence, more durability, and fewer early failures compared to a standard maple deck.
Long, smooth slides
The FlowSlick bottom layer is made for fast, smooth slides right out of the box. It helps reduce friction on ledges and rails, protects the structural layers underneath, and gives the deck a cleaner, more consistent sliding feel.
- Smoother slides: less sticking, more glide.
- Less wax dependency: FlowSlick helps the deck slide better on more surfaces.
- Better bottom protection: the sliding layer works as a durable shield over the composite structure.
Snappy pop that lasts
Impact XPU uses carbon and glass fiber reinforcement to store and return energy more consistently than a traditional wooden deck. Instead of quickly going soggy, the deck is designed to keep its pop and structural feel for much longer.
XPU 2.0 keeps that long-lasting pop, but with a more natural flex profile – giving you a deck that feels responsive without feeling overly stiff.
Revolutionary XPU construction
Inside every Impact XPU deck is a carefully engineered combination of materials:
- Vertically laminated wood core – the natural backbone of the deck, tuned for flex and boardfeel.
- Carbon fiber – adds snap, strength, and long-term pop retention.
- Glass fiber – improves torsional control, impact resistance, and durability.
- Impact-proof polyurethane sidewalls – protect the edges from chips, water, and razor-tail wear.
- FlowSlick bottom layer – delivers smoother slides and protects the structural laminate.
The result is a deck that blends skateboard feeling with composite engineering – built for skaters who want more durability without giving up performance.
Built by skaters, refined with skaters
Impact is not built around marketing shortcuts. We produce in limited batches, test constantly, listen to riders, and improve the construction step by step. XPU 2.0 is the result of that process.
The Full Black edition is not just a colorway. It is the first official release of our latest construction – a limited run of 100 decks that marks the next stage of Impact XPU development.
Feel the difference – ride Impact.
